Carrie O’Connell named principal at Glengary Elementary

The Board of Education approved Carrie O’Connell to remain as the permanent principal at Glengary Elementary during the May 2, 2024 meeting. O’Connell has served as the school’s interim principal since the start of the 2023-24 school year.

“It’s an incredible honor to be named the permanent principal at Glengary Elementary,” said O’Connell.

“I’m an extremely excited to continuing working with our wonderful students, dedicated staff, and supportive parents,” said O’Connell. “Together, we will build upon our achievements and create an even stronger community here at Glengary.”

O’Connell has worked within Walled Lake Consolidated Schools for the past 21 years. She started at Wixom Elementary, where she taught kindergarten and fifth grade for 17 years. In 2021, O’Connell moved to Dublin Elementary for a leadership position as the school’s instructional specialist. A role she held for two years before filling in as the interim principal at Glengary.

“Since joining the team at as interim principal Glengary Elementary, Carrie has done an exemplary job in service to her students and staff,” said Dr. John Bernia, Superintendent of Schools. “I am confident she will continue to succeed in her role as the building's permanent principal in the years ahead.”
