Brian Matelic receives Golden Apple Award

GBrand USA Athletic Apparel owner, Brian Matelic, received a Golden Apple Award at the April 9, 2026 Board of Education meeting.
Matelic was nominated by Walled Lake Central Unified coach, Toni Brubaker-Flood, for being a positive force in the unified movement at Walled Lake Central through his generous donations of apparel and Inclusion Week assembly prizes.
“Brian leads by example as a champion for inclusion, believing that all student-athletes deserve the same recognition, whether they are neurodivergent or neurotypical,” said Brubaker-Flood.
Matelic has donated more than $7,000 worth of apparel to Walled Lake Central’s unified athletics program because he understands that when athletes feel valued and look their best, it boosts confidence and morale.
“When teams from other schools compliment player jerseys, students feel proud and recognized,” said Brubaker-Flood. “His initial donation of uniforms in 2023 made an immediate impact, and it was only the beginning.”
“Brian is proud of Walled Lake Central’s designation as a National Unified Champion School and wants our athletes to represent that honor with confidence,” continued Brubaker-Flood. “His dedication and generosity have made opportunities possible that would not exist without his support.”
